Mariel McClorey

Originally from New York, Mariel McClorey is an independant makeup and special effects artist based in Sydney, Australia.

Mariel completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts majoring in painting and later continued on to study at the Makeup Effects Group in Sydney and Gorton Studio in Falmouth, England in prosthetic makeup. 

Beginning with a  love for high fashion, beauty and avant garde looks she soon expanded her horizons and her skill set to include special effects, prosthetics, puppets and more character based work utilising her background in fine arts and fabrication - having also studied puppet making and performance at Terrapin Puppet Theatre in Tasmania.

Mariel travelled to New York to compete at the International Makeup Artist Tradeshow placing 3rd in the Beauty/Fantasy makeup category.  She has professionally worked in film, TV,  fashion, and theatre for 10 years. Mariel's makeup credits include Cleverman (ABC tv), Hacksaw Ridge, Mad Max Fury Road, Red Christmas, Wyrmwood, The Wolverine, Unbroken, I, Frankenstein, and Inhuman Resources.  During 2013-2014 she was Head Makeup Artist for global nightclub brand Pacha in Sydney where she interpreted and designed high fashion runway looks for a theatrical nightclub experience.  This included makeup design for dancers, aerialists, burlesque artists, and special guest performers. 

Mariel's work is a reflection of her training with the best in the industry coupled with her technique and experience in fine arts. Her makeup work ranges from the most subdued  right through to the avant garde with an emphasis on  special fx, prosthetics, character work and prop making.
